Nothing to Do?

Posted in random at 6:35 am by thelawthoughts

If you have 3 minutes and 13 seconds to waste, Joshua Gans points us in the direction of the final of the rock-paper-scissors championship. Skip the first 1.30 or so.

Will Harry Potter Die?

Posted in random at 1:01 pm by thelawthoughts

Well, somebody has to. At least two. Who will it be?

My guess is somebody minor, like a Weasley brother, and someone major, like Professor Snape.

What do you think?

Time to Move

Posted in random at 9:42 am by thelawthoughts

I know this isn't law related, but I had to share Stephen Hawking showing off his noted brilliance. How are we going to combat global warming? We need to colonise Mars and move to the moon.

Now, apart from the fact we can't even land on the bloody thing, we don't have enough spacesuits to go around to live on the moon.

Seriously though, why can't somebody noted for his intelligence use a speech-making opportunity to tell people global warming is real, that using big cars and power plants makes the world throw us off and actually provide a useful set of discussion points?

Don't tell me that if some people who 'don't believe' heard Stephen Hawking saying it, they wouldn't take it on board.

Blogging Software

Posted in blogging, random at 9:09 am by thelawthoughts

Having put out a lost of posts on WordPress in the last few days, I must say it leaves Blogger in the dust. It has massive functionality advantages, as well as providing the ability to see where visitors come from and what they are viewing. I used to use SiteMeter for that, but there seems little point here.

I have had at least 13 readers per day since I moved, which is much higher than usual. Yes, I was already aware not many people read this, no need to laugh. In any case, WordPress clearly provides better links to Technorati and gets posts out into the blogosphere much better than Google does.

What do people think? Are there any negative experiences to report from WordPress users?

World Cup Predictions

Posted in football, random at 2:14 pm by thelawthoughts

Now that the World Cup has started, time to make some predictions. Come on people, pick a winner in the comments box.

What I really want to know is who is the best value at the TAB. I like Argentina for value, Brazil of course for sheer class. However, my tip is England. They have to win one sometime.

I, of course, reserve the right to change my pick to keep things interesting when England don't make knock out.

Shaving Tips

Posted in random at 7:58 am by thelawthoughts

There is so much good stuff out there, I just can't help sharing 43Folders' really good shaving tips. As Mr. Painful Shave, these types of articles are what the internet is all about. Forget the connectivity, academic research, access to news, this is what it's all about.
